TThielen
Should graduate program students, once accepted, be allowed to pass regardless of grades.....should it be based on attendance only? Any and all angles of critique are appreciated.
IdahoPA
Kind of a moot point, no? Each school has their own requirements and you either meet them or you don't. Our school says you need 80% to pass, so...80% it is. Would you want a provider who only knew 30% of the material? Question: is this for personal curiosity or some sort of essay? Lemon Bars
I say no. You should have to pass the tests, except maybe for some sort of review course.
marktheshark89
Obviously no.
TThielen
The obvious answer is no, I want to hear some angles that maybe I didn't think of. Yes this was an essay question.
Moiraine57
To play devil's advocate, in many professional programs, your actual grades don't count as much as your professional licensing afterwards. i could see some sort of audit program where you don't get a grade per se, it is just the material is presented, and it's up to you what you do with it. if you attend all the classes, ace all the tests, but fail your professional licensing exam, then why does it matter your grad school GPA was 4.0? Its meaningless. This of course, would presuppose the professional licensing exams are rigorous enough to separate the wheat from the chaff, when I think oftentimes they aren't. So if you wanted to go in that direction, you would need to beef up the licensing exams for many professions.
