Kaila
Just curious if personal/athletic training might counts toward HCE? I'm thinking no but hoping yes since I'm a nasm certified trainer.
Administrator rev ronin Posted November 17, 2012 Administrator Share Posted November 17, 2012 Are you working in rehab of sick people under medical care, or working on healthy people (even if fat, etc.) getting healthier?
Kaila
Mostly healthy people working on lifestyle changes/getting healthier. I also work with some clients doing corrective exercise to help with past injuries or help cure muscle imbalances.
KCMA79
I think what you are describing would be a real stretch but many programs now are pretty loose in what they consider HCE, to the detriment of the student.
sartort
Because they are clients, not patients, you can't enter it in caspa in the "Patient Care Experience" section. If they were a patient in a healthcare setting that you worked with (like in PT or cardio rehab) that would count, but if you are just working with them at a gym-type setting then I think it's just work experience. Contact a few programs at the top of your list and ask if it could go in the "other health care experience" section, but it will likely just go in the "other work experience" section.
