^^^.... Makes sense but...

At one of my jobs, 99.9% of all of my patienst are atleast 30 yrs older than me, so insisting that they call me "Mr." just doesn't feel right TOO ME... and many of them have dementia so simply introducing myself by first name and professional title suffices.

Often, the acutely agitated, demented patients won't allow me to examine them no matter how many times I introduce myself... UNTIL... a exasperated nurse rolls her eyes at me repeating, "I'm a PA," over and over again... and suddenly blurts out... "he's the DOCTOR"...!!! Then as is usual, the patient's resistence dissapates...

After giving this some thought, I realized that one must have a intact "short-term-memory" to understand what a "PA" is and does. A STM is not required to understand what a "doctor" is or does... so even the most demented and/or psychotic patients "get-it."

And yes... I resist the natural urge to correct them...:heheh:
