RuralER/Ortho
Basic question... can PA's provide final xray interpretation? Can we bill for them? Background: I work for a hospital in both the ortho dept (almost exclusively first assist, minimal clinic) and the ER. This question only pertain to ortho. We have a surgeon who is pushing to have PA's do our own interpretation for plain films. Right now our surgeons are over reading our xrays, but this commonly occurs days later. We have been looking for info, but everything is vague and there is not a concrete answer that we can find. Anyone have input? Thanks!
SSG2PA
I 1st assist one day a week and when on-call, so mostly in clinic. Interpretations that I provide for plain film XRs in office are billed for and count toward my receivables.
DizzyJ
Yes, we can read and bill for interpretation... Your employer/health system may not allow it however.
