lpblack16
Hello all! I have a question about volunteer hours. I have been working super hard to strengthen my app, increased shadowing hours, different letters, taking a class over. For some reason I didn't even think about volunteer hours (prob because I work over 45 hours a week). Given this, will this significantly hurt my application if other areas are strong? I do not think I have a lot of time to gain volunteer hours because I am trying to apply as soon as I can. Thanks!
DiggySRNA
No. Volunteering is just the icing on the cake. It shows that you think about others well-being. Although volunteering is important, volunteering < HCE/PCE.
fishbum
Some schools place more emphasis on volunteer experience than others, so you'd do well to avoid them. But at the majority of schools, it's probably not an issue.
Administrator rev ronin Posted April 19, 2016 Administrator Share Posted April 19, 2016 Also:Volunteering because it's who you are and you've done it in some form or another your entire adult life > Volunteering to check the right boxes. Adcoms can tell which is which.
