Guest TerryF Posted August 2, 2011 Know any good sites that can explain acid-base so even I can understand it? TerrryF
andersenpa Posted August 2, 2011 Egg-head version http://www.anaesthesiamcq.com/AcidBaseBook/ab1_2.php More practical version http://www.acid-base.com/index.php I love acid base so post questions if you have any specifics!
flyingsquirrel Posted August 3, 2011 When I was first learning acid/base in depth, I used the second link that anderson posted and this one: http://fitsweb.uchc.edu/student/selectives/TimurGraham/Welcome.html Also, EMCrit just did a great four-part podcast on acid/base. Part 1 is here: http://emcrit.org/podcasts/acid-base-i/
xxbowiexx Posted August 3, 2011 The strong-ion approach makes more sense then the Henderson-Hesselbach though, but seems to be much more complicated to get a grasp on, so i think the EMCrit one is quite interesting. I listened to it a few times before but have not implement/use it yet.
chiaroscuro27 Posted August 3, 2011 I really could use those podcasts, but for some reason I can't get them to play. I've been trying to understand vent settings and management for a while now...
MikeyBoy Posted August 3, 2011 Here are a few sites that I found useful during my ICU rotation for acid/base review, ventilation, etc: http://www.ccmtutorials.com/ http://www.globalrph.com/martin_4_most.htm#S%20U%20M%20M%20A%20R%20Y http://blogs.uiowa.edu/anesthesia-test/case-of-the-month/
flyingsquirrel Posted August 3, 2011 You can also download the EMCrit podcasts through iTunes. The 2-part vent series is helpful, but assumes a bit of prior knowledge. Make sure you print out the PDF that is attached to the first one.
