normalnancy
Is applying to programs not in CASPA a bad thing? Are they generally lower quality programs or is that not true?
SoCalPA
Depends which program. Until this cycle Stanford was a direct apply. They are a great program. Just check accreditation and PANCE past rates. Also look into attrition, which is how many they accept in a given class and how many in that class graduate. SHU-CH
If you have concerns you might ask the program why they are not in CASPA. As long as they can articulate a logical reason I would not worry. We view ourselves as a relatively small program and (for now, at least) we simply do not want to deal with 1500 applications. I may or may not be accurate in my thinking but I also think having our own process helps to screen for people that realy want to come here as opposed to people who just want to go to any PA program by checking another box on CASPA. ddisilvestro
The quality of program has nothing to do with whether or not they participate in CASPA. Participation in CASPA is a decision that programs make based on a lot of factors, but not their quality.
