Sabsaf123
So, as a student, I volunteered at a free clinic and one of my responsibilites was to interview patients to fill out a long questionnaire (takes 30~ min). The first part was just to jot down a few sentences about why the patient wants to see a clinician and after that I just go through the questions (previous meds, history w/ depression, STDs, high BP, diabetes, etc.) Could I list this on my resume as taking a "patient history"? I know its not the same history that clinicians take and after my questionnaire the patient usually saw a primary care doc (after like 2 weeks) and they took a full history. Not sure how else to describe it and just wanted to make sure using "patient history" wasnt misleading.
Administrator rev ronin Posted July 10, 2015 Administrator Share Posted July 10, 2015 That sounds reasonable to me. Nurses and MAs take patient histories too, so it's not like it's a provider-only skill.

DiggySRNA
I take patient histories everyday in the radiology department as a CT Tech Aide. So I don't think it's misusing the term :)
ToppDog
By definition, those long questionnaires are considered patient histories. So, yes, you should be fine stating you took patient histories.
