I have been reading in a number of forums that people know surgical PAs making that much and wanted to know if its true. Moderator EMEDPA Posted July 5, 2015 Moderator Share Posted July 5, 2015 I have a good friend who is a senior ct surgery/critical care pa in nyc at a major academic medical ctr for over 10 yrs. he makes about 125k working like a dog and is always on call. NYC is not the place to make a lot of money as a pa. there are lots of programs there so supply is high and demand is low, so salaries are low as well. want to make money as a pa? work where no one else does- rural, underserved, etc. I make 15 dollars more/hr to work at a rural facility seeing 8-10 pts/12 hr shift than I do to work at an urban trauma ctr seeing 30 pts/12 hr shift...
