MCAT scores

Recommended Posts

I think a review of the CASPA FAQs would be a good idea for you:

  • Q: Do I send my test scores to CASPA?

A: NO. CASPA does NOT accept any official test scores other than the TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) exam. Any other test scores, such as the GRE, MCAT, etc, should be sent directly to your programs. Please contact the programs to which you are applying to determine which test scores they require.

why does the application says: Please enter your AAMC ID number to ensure transmittal of official MCAT scores to your designated programs.

i do not like to show my mcat scores as well, will they hold it against if i dont have it on my application?

It is not necessary to include your MCAT score in your application. It is for medical school, not graduate school. I believe there are a few programs that will accept it in lieu of the GRE but the majority of schools require the GRE or nothing at all.

Yeah, and if you do get it put on the CASPA application, be prepared for the "Why didn't you go to medical school" question in an interview. Also, CASPA itself advises against it because MCAT feeds that field directly and CASPA doesn't control the reporting. Therefore, if you get the MCAT scores put electronically on CASPA, and you don't get in and decide to reapply the next cycle without the scores, CASPA can't take them off. Unless they are really outstanding, I don't see any benefit to including them.
