kevin
Does anyone have any idea on what the current needs of the Army are for PA's? Specifically, are civilian trained (class of 2015) PA's being actively recruited still, or does the Army only utilize PA's from the pool of students at IPAP? meatheadPA
Direct Assessment recruitment of PAs is real low( 1-2 per cycle). We are over becoming saturated. Bonuses have plummeted and they are primarily drawing from the IPAP pool. If you are prior service medic that went the civ route, you might have a chance. Why do you ask? cc56
Do you know if it is the same for Reserves/Guard? I called the AMEDD today but they went home early due to bad snow storm.
jsfelder0417
I can only speak for the UT National Guard, but the state has one slot for a 65D with the aviation battalion. I am taking the other available slot.

meatheadPA
Ya NG usually only have a couple per state. CST(WMD), AMPA, and sometimes MEDCOM commanders. Its also a lot of who you know. AGR is a coveted job with great benies and easy work schedule. CST teams are also non-deploying, non-drilling assets.
jsfelder0417
There is an AGR slot that just opened up at Camp Williams in Salt Lake City, UT for a 65D. It is an O4 slot, so there is a good amount of room for promotion. It is at the medical readiness center mainly doing SRPs and such. It is a busy place for an SRP site because 19th SFG (A) is based out of there as well. If you want a POC shoot me a PM.
kevin
So, after speaking with the Michigan sate AMEDD recruiter for AD; I was told that the window for 65D (PA) is already closed. In short, the Army does not need any PA's for fiscal year 2015. I was advised to check back in a few months and attempt to submit a packet for AD in August of 2015 for FY 2016. The window may present a "few" open 65D slots for the next FY. This is not so good, considering I was "hoping" to sign a contract six months out from graduation (Aug. 2015). Perhaps, with the new recruiting effort, I should consider applying for a position with the Navy? Thanks for all the comments. I look forward to reading more.
