Kevn
As someone who used stories in their personal statement, I was wondering if I should repeat these stories during my interview? For example, I wrote about a really memorable patient I had while working as a CNA. If they ask me during the interview to tell them about a memorable patient, should I recite what I had from my personal statement?
Administrator rev ronin Posted October 11, 2014 Administrator Share Posted October 11, 2014 Recite? No. Expound upon vividly? Quite possibly. What's written down on paper is a static retelling, what you can convey in an interview can be so much more dynamic and energetic. You want to make them believe you lived the experience you wrote about (you did, right?)
ToppDog
Rev's advice is excellent. More than likely, the interviewers will have read your essays to prepare for interviewing you, so they may ask you to tell them more.
zoopeda
I think reminding the interviewer by underscoring and expanding (when appropriate) is a smart way to strengthen your appeal. Presumably you strategized your statement content, so buildon that strategy in a personal way.
