Is PA a good idea for an international medical graduate?

Hi Everyone.

 

I am a International Medical Graduate. I am interested in PA program, somebody told me about this program as a great opportunity to get a master degree in my field instead of the difficult and long USMLE process.

Are there somebody in my situation that want to share any advise?

USMLE path is the better idea since you are already a medschool grad. being a PA is very different than being a physician. you need to research the differences.

some IMGs do go to PA school if they can't pass the USMLE or can't get a residency in the U.S.

Ditto.  If you have already graduated med school and can get a residency match, you'll be paid from here on out for the rest of your training to become a doctor.  PA school is another $100k leading to a different type of practice.
