teenyfish
Hello! I'm new to the forum, a junior in college and seriously considering a PA career. For a year I worked as a "health care provider" at a group home for adults with developmental disabilities. My duties including bathing, toileting, helping with everyday chores and care, as well as giving medications, managing colostomy/urostomy bags, G-tubes, and dressing wounds ( a few of our clients were on bed rest with severe bed sores). I did not receive a certification for these duties but I attended classes provided by the agency to train us for what we were needed to do for the job. Would this be considered health care experience? I worked part time/full time in the summer for a little over a year and accumulated 600/700 hours. Moderator EMEDPA Posted February 5, 2014 Moderator Share Posted February 5, 2014 yes, just get a good letter from a supervisor there summarizing your duties. sounds like a cna job for all intents and purposes.
