skyblue3
I've already been accepted in to PA school starting in the fall and have been working in international health since 2011. However, my contract is up at the end of February with very little chance of renewal, so I will essentially be job-less from March till August. I don't want to start a new "career," because I will only be there for about 5 months, but I do need to do something to bring in some money. I don't have any ER, CNA, etc. certifications either. Does anyone have any ideas for where to look for short-term work, besides the typical retail route?
IDrunner11
Try working at a hospital/clinic as a patient service representative. Usually you can be involved with patient referrals and making charts. It will be a little bit more clerical but if you find a nice provider who lets you shadow it will help. Wet Dog
It really depends on where you will be living and what the job market is like there. You can try some temp agencies to see if they have a placement for you, that way you aren't going through all the trouble of applying and interviewing for positions just to up and quit a few months later. fakingpatience
Most group home agencies hire people frequently, which is partially due to a high turnover, if that tells you anything about the common work conditions, however also means you won't feel as bad quitting after a few months. maureenu89
congrats! which PA school did you apply to. I have tried so many schools and they said you can't work while in school because the class schedule is tight and they have classes mon-fri from morning to evenings. your mother
Try a contracting agency like Aerotek. They sometimes have 3-5 month contracts for a wide variety of fields.
