Boatswain2PA
Anybody know if student loans are deferred during PA residencies? What about physician residencies??
FfIghter23
Contact the residency programs you are thinking about attending. I've talked to two residency programs and each told me that it is a case by case basis depending on the type of loan and if it is private vs federal, but most students are granted successful deferment. Boatswain2PA
I'm not interested in a residency, plus I had Uncle Sam pay for school.... was just curious. Thanks!
winterallsummer
Would be up to whoever your lender is not the residency. You could contact the lender. My guess is yeah you could easily have it deferred due to "financial hardships".
Gordon, PA-C
Residency deferment has basically gone away and has been replaced by "economic hardship deferment" or the popular PAYE or IBR options in which case you probably wont have to pay very much during residency. Same rules for both PAs and MDs.
Grinder993
I did a residency and yes you can defer them.
