Reality Check 2
I would like to converse with any PAs who have a paralegal or legal certification along with their PA. It is a job future I have considered. Would like to know about jobs, duties, barriers, income, etc. Would like feedback to see if this is something to pursue. This would be a career future to continue to use my medical background and experiences without hands on day to day patient contact. I know, it is the dark side............................ I would obviously want to work with "the good guy" lawyers - if they exist. Thanks

Could get you a glimpse into the world and see if it's really something you want
LKPAC
I have a friend who was a PA, then went to law school. Making the BIG bucks. Eventually went into hospital admin, so went dark side.
Reality Check 2
I was thinking paralegal first due to cost and time of investment to certification. See if lawyers want someone on staff to research, interpret, set up questions and filter information from the medical side. See if it actually pays to have a PA license and a paralegal. I can't see me going to law school pushing 50 and certainly couldn't afford it. I kind of have to work to support the family - I am the breadwinner. Law school would only be in the picture if it turns out to be the most stellar gig on the planet.
Moderator True Anomaly Posted October 19, 2016 Moderator Share Posted October 19, 2016 So I actually looked into law a few years ago, in a similar manner to you- expanding career options if/when I burn out on the ER. I find the law fascinating, but all I considered was law school- not paralegal. During my research, I uncovered an organization that would be tailor-made for you: The American Academy of PA's in Legal Medicine- http://aapalm.org
