Need everyone's advice!

Recommended Posts

Hello,

Would any of you ladies and gents be able to lend me your opinion and advise about this employee benefits package?

It's for a Psych PA position.  I'm wondering what else would be important to ask about before signing on.

2000 sign-on bonus

5000 moving allowance

3000 one-time bonus after 1yr

80hrs PTO first day

148hrs/yr

7 recognized holidays

shared health/dental

paid life insurance

car allowance / company vehicle

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

I've already thought of asking about:

CME allowance

Clarification about PTO

Car allowance $ amount

Any additions, suggestions, and/or questions are graciously welcomed as I am quite new to negotiating terms.

Your time and expertise is much appreciated :)  ,

J

5000 semi-monthly

No productivity bonus written.  They said it'll be 100% transparent and we can work out a bonus system once they see how much I can bring in.  I'm the first full-time prescriber that they're hiring so it'll be a learning process for us both.

wait - 5,000 SEMI-monthly...does that mean $10,000 a MONTH?

company vehicle and all else - sounds like a sweet deal, if you like psych. just be prepared - there is a big knowledge base required to safely prescribe the  myriad psych meds out there now, and there is more and more evidence of "newer" (past 10-20 years) psych meds having delayed but catastrophic side effects.

do you feel you have the knowledge base to provide safe patient care under those conditions?

plus - psych pts can be...well...I get them all the time in my specialty, and it can be challenging to accurately isolate and diagnose their conditions and not just treat symptoms.

ps - ooh, wait.....20-24 pts a DAY?!? eek....I don't know about you, but I need to KNOW my patients to feel I am giving quality, responsible, appropriate health care. I left PC bc they had the same pt flow expectations. I just can't do it.
