University of Nebraska post graduate online masters program tips?

Recommended Posts

I hope everyone had a great weekend! I was wondering if any readers have any exp with this program and might be able to offer some tips. By that I mean mainly related to time saving tips which could include tips regarding tech, things you wish you had done from the begining, time wasting mis adventures, etc.

Any other tips or pearls will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

many folks on this forum have done the nebraska program. I did it almost 20 years ago when it cost 1800 bucks. It was a good program and easy to finish in less than a year. good luck.

also look at Touro university for an easy program that can be done online in less than a year for less than 7k if you have not already enrolled at nebraska.

I am enrolled right now, on 2nd term, in education track.

I use MacBook Pro to access Blackboard without issue. You do need MS Word and PPT. I have used my iPad and iPhone 6+ to access successfully. UNMC also has an app that I have used too.

Def need broadband access.

Currently I find my only issue is procrastination at times.

I find the faculty responsive and encouraging.

I would prolly have an easier time if I did something on a daily basis but sometimes that does not work with my shift schedule.

I have found the classes straight forward, exams and assignments reasonable and overall am satisfied with this option so far.

You also get access to the UNMC online library, so PubMed and Access Medicine have been heavily utilized and helpful.

The only time I have found I have wasted time was when I did not thoroughly read the directions for an assignment. There are a tremendous amount of instructions that you have to get through, from registration to the syllabi, reasonably clear most times but still have to pay attention to detail.

I also found it helpful to print out readings even though it is not the green thing to do. Paper just seems to work better when reading to learn.

The last thing is that since it is online, you are at the computer and there are obviously other things to distract you ranging from social media to email alerts. These are time sucks and you could find yourself slowly dying in front of the screen when you just got on to do an assignment.

Good luck. Feel free to PM or post for further info.
