p3cia_38 Posted March 6, 2013 Hi guys! i have a foreign bachelor's degree in Medical Technology that has been deemed equivalent to the US degree by the IERF. I have mostly A's and a GPA of 3.7 ( IERF evaluation). I am currently working as a lab tech in the bloodbank and volunteering in the ER and cancer center of the same hospital I work in in NYC; I am a NY resident btw. Also about to take the GRE and TOEFL this year. Are there PA schools who wouldn't require me to take all the pre reqs again in the US? Thanks! Would appreciate any insight on this!
Cleverisallxx Posted March 6, 2013 I think your best bet would be to call up the schools that you are interested in applying to and asking them how they feel about international pre-reqs, and mention that the degree has been deemed equivalent to a US one.
cinntsp Posted March 6, 2013 From the CASPA FAQ: Q: I attended a foreign school. What do I send to CASPA? A: The majority of CASPA programs require applicants to submit official foreign transcripts to an approved foreign transcript evaluation service for a course-by-course U.S. equivalency report. Arrange for these evaluations to be sent directly to CASPA from the foreign transcript evaluation agency. Contact the foreign transcript evaluation service as early as possible. The services may take several weeks to process your foreign transcript once it is received.PLEASE NOTE: You MUST read each physician assistant program's instructions for submitting documentation of foreign coursework. These instructions can be found on individual program web sites. Please refer to the Participating Programs page for a link to individual program web sites. Above all, DO NOT SEND YOUR FOREIGN TRANSCRIPTS TO CASPA.Below is a list of common services used by CASPA applicants for the translation and review of foreign transcripts. Please note that this list is not all-inclusive and CASPA does not recommend or endorse any particular service. You should check with your designated programs for final approval on which service you should use.World Education Services, IncP.O. p3cia_38 Posted March 9, 2013 Author That is a very good idea. Been e-mailing a few actually and most of them want me to repeat my pre-reqs here in the US. Thank you. :)
