NightOwl
Just passed my pance. I am looking for a job in fam med or urgent care. I heard that most new grads see pt by themselves right on first day. I am worry I don't know all the latest med out there to prescribe. Also I know some procedure, but not all such as toe nail removal. I would really be grateful if you guys can give this newbie some advice so I don't look Bain first day of work. Bless you all
Boatswain2PA
When you interview make sure they understand you are a new graduate and you expect to be closely supervised. Seek clear understanding of who will be supervising you, break in period, expectations, etc. Relax....we've all been through it.
bradtPA
Be prepared to ask questions on entering uncharted waters, and invest in a good medical library if you ended up selling your text books.....
jen0508
Shadow a few shifts before you start, it will help alot. While i was waiting to be credentialed, i shadowed for 2 weeks for half pay. Honestly I would have done it for free. Yeah it was annoying sometimes to not be able to do anything myself, but I saw ALOT and learned alot that I did not learn as a student. I also learned the flow of the ED's, and got to know my 17 SP's and nursing staff. I fairly comfortable on my first day on my own.
