Provisional Accreditation?

Recommended Posts

Want to hear anyones experiences w/ provisionally accredited programs. I’m interviewing with one next month and I’d love to go (15mins from home, curriculum looks solid, etc.). The school itself is well-established, so I’m not worried they’d never be fully accredited, but since they matriculated their first class last year makes me a bit skeptical.

I was accepted by a school with provisional accreditation in 2004. It was a great experience and the PA program at Marietta is now planning on celebrating their 20th new class in 2024.

What sold me was the faculty, especially that they had an experienced director who audited other programs for the ARC-PA. There were some growing pains but she kept the place on course. Their goal was to graduate everyone who started, not go out of their way to flunk students out along the way. You had to put in the work, but they were by your side when you needed help.

I think that's what to look for. Good luck in your decision.
