jmm16
Hi! I have been looking a little deeper into the clinical year of the schools I applied to and noticed noticed there aren't any elective rotation options for one of the schools, just offering the standard rotations. Has anyone gone to a school where electives weren't offered? I am wondering if that puts me at a disadvantage for experience, connections, etc / anyone's opinions on not getting those 2-3 extra rotations. Thanks! As long as these are quality rotations and you make the best of them, I would say not having electives is a huge disadvantage personally and professionally, IMO. Electives provide you a chance to "try out" certain fields or specialties and gain more experience in certain areas. For reference, I got my first job on one of my elective rotations and made valuable connections and gained great experience on my other two electives. CAAdmission
Another thing to consider is that an elective might give you the chance to buff up a soft spot. If you hope to work in internal medicine and you are worried about ECGs or acid/base, some time in cardio, nephro, etc would help.
