  1. What are some book/resources that you used to study for the PAEA end of rotation exams. Did you follow the blueprint exactly when studying? Thanks!
  2. Hi everyone, I am hoping that someone will be able to point me in the direction of some hospitals or private practices that have preceptors who are willing to take PA students in the scottsdale, mesa, Glendale, chandler, Tempe, Gilbert, Phoenix area of Arizona. I am currently a first year PA student at Hofstra university in New York and we are getting ready for rotations this year. For my program, we are allowed to do two rotations out of state so I hoping to go to Arizona. However, we are responsible for finding the preceptor and giving the information to Hofstra. I will be staying in Scottsdale but I am willing to drive!! Any information will be helpful as I am not really sure where to begin looking or who to contact. Thank you SO much in advance!!! Hunter
  3. Our program is starting rotations soon and we are using standardized end of rotation exams though the PAEA. What are the best books to use to prepare for these exams or any end of rotation exam? Thanks in advance!

I need advice/ideas on how to find rotations, preferably in the LA area for this July and August (my elective rotations). My main interest are orthopedics and dermatology, but really any rotation help will be much appreciated. Thanks.
  6. Hello! I am currently still in the didactic phase of PA school in New Orleans but I will be starting rotations next May. My goal is to work in Houston after PA school, so because of this I would like to do my preceptorship there! The problem is that I do not have any contacts in Houston (except for my significant other who is a CPA). My preferred specialty is trauma surgery, but I am also interested in ED, general surgery, cardio-thoracic, or plastics. If anyone knows who I can get in contact with about doing my preceptorship in Houston or the surrounding area it would be forever appreciated!!!!! my email is sydney737@hotmail.com, or you can reply to this thread.
  7. I am looking to do my elective rotations starting next summer in Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky. Does anyone have any advice or know of any contacts for how to start working on setting up these rotations? I am currently pretty open to any speciality. I just want to start with getting some tips on how to find a preceptor in this area! Thanks for any advice!

  12. Hello, I am a first year PA student at Kettering College in Kettering, Ohio. I am from Michigan in the Metro-Detroit area and am hoping to come back to Michigan to do my clinical rotations starting in early September 2018. I will be living in the Metro-Detroit area so am looking for rotations around there or Toledo, but am open to other ares in Michigan. 13. Hello, I am very interested in UNE PA school and was hoping that a current student would be able to provide some information on clinical rotations. There does not seem to be any information online about it. Are the rotations in Maine? Are they set up by the program or do students set them up themselves? Any other info would be great! Thanks
  14. I'm currently a 2nd year PA student and I'll graduate May 2018. i hear some of my classmates talking about applying for jobs already, but it seems too early. I've done some background research on different areas, openings, that kind of thing, but it seems early to actually apply for jobs. When should I start applying for jobs? Any advice is appreciated.

  17. My school is having us get equipment for our physical diagnosis classes coming up (and rotations later on) and I need some insight into what the best option is. We have to choose from a few different packages instead of buying stuff separately. Pack 1 has a 3.5V diagnostic otoscope and a 3.5V standard ophthalmoscope. Pack 2 has a 3.5V diagnostic set with a coaxial ophthalmoscope and a macroview otoscope. There is a huge price differential and they seem to be telling us that if we are unsure we should get the 2nd, more expensive option. I have obviously never used an otoscope or ophthalmoscope before, but I have heard that the first option is entirely sufficient. Can anyone who has experience with any of these give me some insight into the differences and which are preferred/sufficient?

  20. Has anyone used the Pretest books as practice questions for the EOREs? I'd really like to find something split up by rotation rather than organ system, but I'm not sure whether these will be enough like the EORE to be helpful. Thanks!
  21. Hey guys check out this blog post we just put on our site that summarizes and discusses the validity of the PAEA EOR exams. I have heard multiple people asking which EOR is the most difficult and we finally got a definitive answer. It also discusses EOR exam scores correlations with PANCE scores. Link -> NATIONAL EOR EXAM SCORES REVEAL THE TOUGHEST AND MOST USELESS Let me know what you think by either commenting below the article on our site or posting below! Also, we are always looking for new topics to write about + guest bloggers so feel free to suggest.
  22. Many of my classmates tell me the PAEA EOR exams are challenging and the study blue print provided is useless. We are just starting our clinical year and nobody as really figured out how to do do well...people pass, but I want to do well. Any tips on how to prepare for the PAEA EOR exams?
  23. So this is essentially my first rodeo when it comes to negotiating a contract offer. Reading up on it now and came across this statement. Source: http://cheekyscientist.com/12-tips-on-how-to-negotiate-a-job-offer-to-increase-your-starting-salary/ Based on your experience, is this a good way to go about things. I'm trying to negotiate this contract (http://www.physicianassistantforum.com/index.php?/topic/41261-family-med-offer-need-advice/), and i don't know if i should ask for everything at once or separately, like the author of the article suggests. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks!
