Sporter
I just got the email that I didn’t receive an interview to the school I applied for. I am really at a loss of what to do. I’m in my 30s with 10 years of surgical experience, I have kids so I’m limited to where I can apply and I only applied to 1 school because there’s only a few in my area. Is there anyone that could give me advice of how to make my application better to where I may get an interview next year. I had great references and a great personal statement, that was reviewed by some surgeons I work with. At the moment I am at a loss and feeling very down. DiggySRNA
Including your current candidacy stats can provide better suggestions.
CrystalPA2025
If you don’t mind sharing your stats?! Also keep in mind there really may be nothing wrong with your application! Unfortunately, PA school is super competitive and the average applicant applies to 8 schools I believe and even that, not every single school offers you an interview or goes through your application. So applying to one school, it definitely just lowers your chances tremendously just because it’s only ONE school. You seem to have great experience and great references from what you said so again, I’m sure if you were able to apply to a few more, you most definitely have a great chance to get more offers for interviews and possible acceptance! ANESMCR
No offense and respect to your living situation, but you can’t expect much if you only apply to one school. PA school is a huge sacrifice on all accords.
1madmamma
How are the rest of your stats? Did you have a letter of recommendation from a PA? Have you shadowed any PAs? I empathize with being a parent and going to PA school- I’m a mom of three and moving for us was not a possibility, so I applied to schools within a two hour commute. I ended up with an hour and 20 minute commute each way to campus and the majority of my rotations were between an hour and two hours each way. Was I exhausted? Absolutely. But I knew this when I was accepted and I wanted to be a PA bad enough I was willing to do whatever it took to get me to PA-C. Feel free to pm me. I’m happy to help as I vividly remember being where you are!
