Iain1028
I may be looking for a new job at the start of the year. I get 3 weeks paid vacation right now. What is the standard paid vacation time for a new PA employee in general. Or what is the minimal acceptable vacation time that is reasonable to look for? Moderator EMEDPA Posted September 30, 2010 Moderator Share Posted September 30, 2010 I currently get 14 eight hr days/yr and no cme days( but 2000/yr for cme). I don't think I would ever accept less than this. this is em though so we can flex our schedules a lot through trades and front loading the schedule in any given month. also we can work 8 shifts/mo and still keep full time benefits(but not pay, as it is hourly + bonus). I have had as much as 7 weeks+ 1 week cme before. I ended up not using a lot of it and cashed it out when I left. I think 3 weeks is reasonable. Iain1028
Wow!! 7 + weeks? Sweet. Yeah 3 weeks seems good, but as a new employee? What is the industry standard?
marilynpac
I think it depends if it's private or hospital. Usually 2wks pto is normal. With someone that's private you may get time off w/o pay b/c there's more wiggle room.
ajnelson
Mine is a percentage based upon hours worked (for the first 3 years, it's 7.7% of your hours worked, up to a max of just under 4 weeks). We also get sick time, but taking sick time is very difficult, and the only way we can use that is to be off for more than 72 consecutive hours.
