Velox
I just got accepted and still have a lot to learn about the profession. I was wondering how much overtime is available should a PA would be willing? Could a PA have a part time job or per diem somewhere else? Moderator EMEDPA Posted March 27, 2021 Moderator Share Posted March 27, 2021 Depends on specialty and area. In urgent care or emergency medicine you could probably work every hour of every day if you were so inclined. At my first job at Kaiser there was basically unlimited overtime. I worked 4 tens a week for full time and an extra ten every other week. I now have a full time job, a part time job, 2 per diem jobs, and a teaching job. Between all of this I have been doing 220-260 hrs/mo for the last year. That is too much. Next month I go down to 180. If you want to work there will always be stuff to do. You may have to have multiple jobs to do it. I do it more for the variety than the money. Some folks pick up part time hospitalist positions on the side or work in occupational medicine or suboxone clinics, etc
