cmt2013
I was recently diagnosed with anxiety and depression which I believe contributed to the difficulty I have in school the past few years. I hesitate putting this in my essay for several reasons. I majored in psychology and it seems silly that I had no idea I had depression all this time, so I don't want to seem like an idiot for being unaware of my condition. However this is the true reason why my GPA is as low as it is so should I include it in my PS?
Moderator EMEDPA Posted April 27, 2012 Moderator Share Posted April 27, 2012 I wouldn't address it directly but perhaps you could say something like " health issues prevented me from doing as well as I had hoped sophomore year" or something like that. Beorp
I agree with EMEDPA, but I would add that you might want to say something about it being a health problem that has been addressed now. If you can come up with a single sentence that says all of that, that is what I would recommend.
mackjacks
Agree with all the above, and want to add that in a sentece or 2 you can both explain and make it clear to the admissions people that it won't be a problem now. Ex: "I am confident that I now have the knowedge and skills to manange this condition, and know that it will not be an issue in my future studies." cmt2013
Thank you all for the advice! I will address it as a health issue in my essay rather than depression/anxiety specifically.
