Stand Up Desk

Recommended Posts

A couple years ago I upgraded from a milk-crate to this Ergotron unit:

I looked at the ones where the who desktop raises, but this one works better for me because I can spin it around if I need to show someone something. It's pretty heavy duty - like the Terminator's arm heavy. You need a solid desk to clamp to. Otherwise I haven't seen a downside. My back feels good and I am on my feet probably 75% of the time.

Get one that will adjust to sitting height and to standing.

If you are using a laptop with it, still won't be ergonomic unless pair a monitor with it at eye level.

I liked the less expensive hand crank models. Easy to put together, low maintenance. About $500 or less.

I found that writing, typing, charting worked with a standup desk.

Reading was better done sitting down unless it was a short amount of time. Just could not concentrate unless seated.

Also get a mat to stand on and still move around every hour.
