bjmcell
I have a question and was wondering has anyone had any similar experiences. Rather then going through FAFSA or a private loan, My parents loaned me some money to help pay for PA school. I am not a dependent, so they can not write the tuition off on their taxes. Due to the intense didactic year, I did not work so I will not be filing any income taxes this year. I was wondering is there any way to write this off? Or am I out of luck since the tuition is in my name but I will not be filing this year. I have done a fair amount of research on the topic and have not been able to find an answer one way or another. Any help is appreciated, Thanks
Administrator rev ronin Posted March 9, 2015 Administrator Share Posted March 9, 2015 You need to consult a tax professional, but my impression is that no, while you may file a return listing the tuition, you probably will not gain much financial benefit from doing so.
