sanfrancisdan
A PA that I shadowed told me that she did her elective in Orthopedics and that she did her Internal Medicine rotation in Cardiology. Has anyone ever heard of this?
Administrator rev ronin Posted February 7, 2011 Administrator Share Posted February 7, 2011 It will depend on the particular PA school, but it would not be unreasonable for an "internal medicine" rotation to also include relevant specialties like cardiology or gastroenterology. NewtonsApple
our internal medicine rotation is 8 weeks and we are allowed to take half of that for a specialty, like cardio, neuro, nephrology, etc.

marilynpac
Me too. A guy in my class begged for an ortho rotation...nope they didn't give him one. When he was getting ready to start his surg rotation he found out there was an ortho there so he said, "Hey I went into the PA program to do ortho would you mind if I did that instead?" His surgeon said fine and I'm sure he's still doing ortho today. I had a saying about Ray in school, if you stand still long enough, Ray will try to put a cast on you.
