How to handle a job change while waiting to hear back from programs

I've got all my applications in and I've decided to accept a new job offer, how do I handle this? Do I need to contact all of the programs I've applied to and inform them?

You do not have to, no.

 

If you have weak HCE and feel this new job is going to make you significantly more competitive, then you can call admissions and ask them to make a note in your file.  

 

It is up to the schools if they consider it or not.  Some schools strictly look at what you have done to date, because frankly anyone can call and say they got a great job (not saying this is you), but it's more fair to look at what has happened thus far.

 

So bottom line is you CAN call them if you think it will help, no harm will come of it.  But you are by no means obligated to.

I'm pretty well set as far as HCE is concerned, so it sounds like I'm good. I just didn't want to run into a situation where a program contacted the job only to find out that I didn't work there anymore. Thanks for the input.

I see no reason to call. Your bio is a snapshot in time; you are free to keep living your life. You were working where you said you were when you submitted your app. That's all that matters.
