PAtoB
Can anyone who is familiar describe key differences in scope of practice between Ohio and Michigan physician assistants? I've applied to programs in both states and understand there is a key difference or two?
UGoLong
I don't know about Michigan, but I do work in Ohio. Also, I'm not really sure why the difference in state laws would play into your decision as to where you go to college. People from my program (in Ohio) went all over the country after graduation. Ohio is in the midst of liberalizing the rules, or so I've been told. We are currently limited by having to be within one hour (in normal conditions) of our supervisor, who can only supervise 2 PAs. This differs from NPs, who just need reasonable contact (like by phone). This is proposed to be changed in a bill to be introduced shortly. We have prescriptive rights for cat 2-5 drugs. rpackelly
Michigan has a much better practice environment than Ohio but, again, it does not matter where you go to school, just where you practice.
