Moderator EMEDPA Posted September 3, 2013 Moderator Share Posted September 3, 2013 Just found out that a friend's daughter was killed in an mva that was potentially survivable because she was an unrestrained driver... not looking for condolences here as we were not close. just an observation on life that this was a damn waste. just graduated from college and hit when someone crossed the median into her lane... Moderator True Anomaly Posted September 3, 2013 Moderator Share Posted September 3, 2013 Anyone who's worked the streets knows just how effective seatbelts are. It's truly the difference between walking away from the accident/having some minor injuries vs multi-system trauma disaster.
Moderator EMEDPA Posted September 3, 2013 Author Moderator Share Posted September 3, 2013 yup, she was dead on scene. I don't know the details but assume the typical chest/pelvis/abd/head injuries associated with a head on mva without a seat belt.
SO4683
I came from law enforcement prior to PA school and saw this issue on a regular basis. I just cannot understand how one can be in a vehicle without a seatbelt. Just recently here four young people (3 teens and a 20 year old) were involved in a single vehicle accident in which the car went off the side of a hill with about a 20 foot drop. 3 died at the scene, the 4th (the only one wearing a seat belt) had only minor injuries.
