izzy2015
Hey guys, I just recently got a job in the ER as a Patient Monitor. I am basically responsible for baby-sitting suicidal, confused, post-op, and dying patients. Sometimes I help them to the bathroom, feed them, and hold them down during procedures. I have also had to give brief reports on them to the Physician, nurses, and other patient monitors. I am always right there when the nurse, doctor, or PA is in the room, so I get to be amongst all the action. I was wondering if this would be considered direct patient contact, and if so, would PA programs think it is good quality? Thanks
DMaistre
Yes, patient monitor would count as direct patient care. At my hospital they are called safety companions. Your basically a 1 on 1 CNA. I would bet atleast 95% of schools would count that as patient care. To not count that would mean that the school wouldnt count a CNA as direct HCE.
