an414
Hello everyone, I was just wondering if anyone has had direct patient care experience in a chiropractic clinic. I know "physical therapy aide" is a common position pre-PAs obtain, but I've never heard of students working alongside a chiropractor. The treatments seem to be similar to physical therapy (such as electrical stimulation, massage, therapeutic ultrasound) so I wasn't sure if there's a distinguishable difference. My mother was diagnosed with cancer so I've been at home taking care of her and it's a bit difficult to pursue an EMT, medical assisting, etc. license so I'm trying to find somewhere close to my house where I can work with on-the-job training. Thank you!
TrevInTampa813
I havent heard of anyone using chiropractic HCE before but i dont see why it would be a problem. I volunteered in PT and OT at a local hospital in the rehab department for 200+ hours and it was a major bonus on my application. I dont see why this would be any different. Heck, my payed HCE was ~4,500 hours in Mental Health (Mental Health Tech/Intake Specialist) and that seems LESS applicable than this. Z PA-C
Most of my HCE is from being a chiropractic assistant. I definitely consider what I did patient care and emailed all my programs to confirm and they agreed. You may want to do the same though because all schools are different. agallione
I worked as a chiro tech a few years ago and put it down as hours, it definitely counts! Don't stress over it and good luck!
billymackes09
I went to a North York chiropractor near me open now and it really helped me with my sports injury that causes my back pain.
