  1. Not ultrasound guided injection. Sorry, I should have been more clear. US specifically for diagnostic purposes, rotator cuff tear, tenosynovitis, other ligament disruptions, or even cubital or carpal tunnel. US in place of MRI for those that may not be able to afford or are unable to have an MRI. I know of one instance where one of our patient two days after a foot surgery (plate placed) was startled and while in her splint, ruptured her tibialis anterior. She was not able to have an MRI due to the plate not having had time to heal. My SP tried to use our US that we use to do injections, but since he doesn't ever use it for that purpose wasn't very convinced, ended up opening up and found it was ruptured... That kind of spurred the idea of looking into training some of us to use the US diagnostically.
  2. I am trying to show the ortho practice that I work for that investing in a good US machine and training me (and a few other PAs) on how to use it to diagnose would be beneficial. Does anyone know where I could find statistics on the cost effectiveness, accuracy compared to MRI, % of practices that currently use US... etc. I've been digging into journals for most of my information but they like to see numbers from reputable sources. Thanks
  3. I have an interview on January 28-29. Tiffany Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  5. I am working on my personal statement and have it mostly finished. I am at about 3200 characters. I know that people often explain their poor grades and how they overcame them in their PS. I only had one class (biology) that I got a C- in in 2003. I have recently retaken it for an A. That is the only prerequisite I had to retake due to a poor grade. Is it necessary to explain that? Also, I did get a couple C's in other non-science classes (business administration classes). Would I need to explain those? They were for a minor to fill in some gaps during my undergrad.
  6. @ma2pa I am in the same situation. The first program I was going to apply to required all prerequisite to be completed in the last 10 years. Even though I work in a medical field they were gonna make me take 15 classes including Med Term again! I've decided to apply to a different school and have similar situation but only A&P have to be within the last 5 years. So only one retake. That school actually sent me online options for taking it and worked with me in order to make sure the classes I took at a local CC were equivalent. Tiffany Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. I have five prerequisites to take next year. I am applying to UW Madison and Juli has been absolutely amazing at quickly answering my questions. When I was having difficulty trying to fit in Biology she pointed me to University of Wisconsin Colleges Online. She even told me exactly what classes would be equivalents at all the area school. Spring 2015 I am taking: Anatomy and Physiology 1 (BIOL 1140) at Lake Superior College. The class is mostly online. I have to go in twice to take a test. The professor said that I could take the tests anywhere I can set up a proctored exam. There is an online lab, but UW Madison doesn't require one for A&P. Concepts of Biology (BIO 101) at UW Online. Hopefully, I just applied so I am hoping to be able to register soon. Summer 2015: Anatomy and Physiology 2 (BIOL 1141) at Lake Superior College. Same at A&P 1. Mostly online. Has an online lab. Microbiology (BIOL 1170) at Lake Superior College. I am taking this one on campus. But they do have a completely online option with a lab. Survey of Biochemistry (CHE 203) at UW Online. Was on the list Juli sent me as an equivalent Biochem class. Might take it in the fall, if it happens to not be offered in the summer. It was on the summer schedule last year. She also sent me lists from UNE and Berkley, which have been mentioned many times.
