stellahead
The New York Times has a letter to the editor about the physician shortage exacerbation in the face of the Affordable Care Act: http://www.nytimes.com/2013/06/19/opinion/invitation-to-a-dialogue-a-doctor-shortage.html?_r=0 The editors are soliciting responses by Thursday for publication in Sunday's paper. This could be a great PR opportunity if anyone from PAFT, AAPA, or any other professional PA organization wants to write about PA's role in the future of health care. This could be a great PR opportunity if anyone from PAFT, AAPA, or any other professional PA organization wants to write about PA's role in the future of health care. Projected doctor shortage is a myth. First, the idiot that wrote that editorial ignores D.O. programs, his numbers account for only M.D. Secondly, he obviously ignores PAs and NPs. There are over 100 new DNP programs scheduled to open in the next 5 years, which will TRIPLE the number of NPs. As we all know there, are also several new PA programs in consideration For MDs, there are over 60 new D.O. and M.D. programs either opened in the last several years or projected to open in the next 5. We will be seeing a glut of providers soon enough.
