IndianaU-PA
@cekeener: The Indiana University PA program currently requires 500 documented patient care involvement hours. This means any patient-facing activity in a health care setting where you are either providing health care to patients or observing health care being delivered in a health care setting. There are many programs that have less than 1,000 hours of patient care experience; some have none required, but just recommend them. The point is, as others have suggested, for you to become familiar with patient care and interacting with patients in a health care encounter. This is not something you are "born with" but takes practice. When you go on clinical rotations, you'll be expected to behave appropriately in patient rooms and with all types of patients and health care needs. You know this intuitively. Best wishes; it looks like you have a strong academic profile. Your desire to work with patients and comfort in those settings will come out in an interview, so my suggestion is to make the most of these hours and try not to consider them a burden but an opportunity.
