patient care hour advice

Recommended Posts

I am currently working in a dermatology office as a Medical Assistant during my summer break from undergrad. I will go back and work on all of my school breaks. However in the meantime, the dermatologist that I currently work for would like me to continue scribing remotely when I am back at college.( 2 hours away) My question is, would this look good on a PA application.... being an Medical Assistant and a scribe?  Or should I get another Part time medical assistant job while I am back at college, and not scribe at all? Trying to figure out which would be the best thing for a PA application because I was told that scribing doesn't count as patient care hours. Any advice would be appreciated.

Personally I would seek a position that lets me work with patients directly, such as being an MA. Scribing is a good background in its own way, but not so much as working with actual patients. Scribing in person is probably better than scribing remotely, which really sounds more like transcription.
