contract termination question

Recommended Posts

If there is not a specific penalty outlined in your contract for quitting are you okay to quit? There are penalties for violating noncompete and not giving proper notice, but none for ending my contract early. Over a year in on a 3 year contract.

There's a difference between being contracted to work for a period of time and a contract that expires after a period of time.

In the first case there is oftentimes a penalty for leaving, in the second case the contract can be renegotiated (for better or for worse)

If there is no penalty spelled out then you should be able to terminate your employment, would recommend a decent notification to allow them to credential your replacement.
