Program is doubling tuition, what to do?

Does anyone know if as a student anything could be done for a program that is basically doubling our clinical year tuition? A few percent increase would be justifiable but it's going up by thousands. How is this allowed?

A lot depends upon what was in the student manual or other official materials from the program or school when you matriculated.  For example, my PA school tended to increase tuition for each cohort, but the tuition for your cohort was fixed when you matriculated.  All of that was spelled out in the student handbook.  If your school didn't do that, you may be stuck.  Colleges and universities increase tuition and fees all of the time.  They are pretty much only bound to adhering to what they told you when you matriculated.

They had stated in the beginning that our tuition would increase but hadn't mentioned by how much but they finally told us after trying to hide it. Was it "cheap" beforehand? New program? Are you getting an actual benefit for the increase or is it just the "costs of doing business?

literally doubling or are you exaggerating? you say doubling and then say "thousands". Which is it?

It's nearly doubling. Just a few thousand short of double the tuition for that year.
