elyak
Hello, all! I am new to the PA forum and am looking for some advice! I am applying to PA school in the upcoming cycle and hoping to get my application submitted sometime in May. My overall GPA is 3.83 and I've been working full-time as a CNA since I graduated with a B.S. in Biology in May of 2020, so I have a few thousand hours of PCE. However, I'm bored and have the opportunity to do an online MPH program while working that starts this May. After speaking with the recruiter, I have learned that it is possible to take up to 1 yr leave of absence while enrolled in the MPH (i.e. during didactic year) and then finish out the program one class at a time. (She has noted that some med students have done this, though no PA students, specifically). SO. I guess my question is, do y'all think it's doable to take one MPH class at a time during clinical year of PA school? I don't really want to push PA school back another year if possible, but this is also my first cycle applying, so if I don't get in this could help with reapplication. Any thoughts appreciated! ANESMCR
Strongly advise against this. You have no idea how busy you will be during clinical year. You will be so busy your definition of busy will be completely redefined. Edit: If you want MPH, do it after PA school.
