MPH before PA school?

Recommended Posts

Hello, all! I am new to the PA forum and am looking for some advice! I am applying to PA school in the upcoming cycle and hoping to get my application submitted sometime in May. My overall GPA is 3.83 and I've been working full-time as a CNA since I graduated with a B.S. in Biology in May of 2020, so I have a few thousand hours of PCE. However, I'm bored and have the opportunity to do an online MPH program while working that starts this May. After speaking with the recruiter, I have learned that it is possible to take up to 1 yr leave of absence while enrolled in the MPH (i.e. during didactic year) and then finish out the program one class at a time. (She has noted that some med students have done this, though no PA students, specifically).

SO. I guess my question is, do y'all think it's doable to take one MPH class at a time during clinical year of PA school? I don't really want to push PA school back another year if possible, but this is also my first cycle applying, so if I don't get in this could help with reapplication. Any thoughts appreciated!
