Back door transfer technique

Recently had a surgical nightmare patient at my rural, critical access hospital(abd pain, necrotizing pancreatitis, free air, lipase > 1500, septic, DM, etc). Every place with 100 miles that had a surgery service was on divert, including the closest tertiary medical center. I asked to talk to their surgeon anyway, described the case and said " this would be a great case for your residents.....". They agreed and accepted the patient as ED to ED to OR without a bed for later, saying they could find one if the patient survived their OR course.
