emkayde
I have 6 years experience in emergency medicine, treating adults and some children. My gut is to take the General exam and not adult medicine, but what does everyone else think?
primadonna22274
I took the general exam in 2006 and will take it again by the end of this year. I had 6 yr FM with urgent care then and worried needlessly, did great with just a little review. Have been EM, PA education and now 1 yr medical school this past 6 yr but don't want to let my PA-C lapse before graduation in 2 yr (always have a backup plan!) Just took the NBME Family Medicine shelf exam today and felt good about it--that was due to years of practical experience in diagnosis and management, certainly NOT due to anything I learned in medical school or in 2 rotations thus far. A little bit harder than PANCE/PANRE questions IMO but shorter. Good luck!
Moderator EMEDPA Posted July 28, 2012 Moderator Share Posted July 28, 2012 Take the primary care exam, it's what we all trained for in pa school....I have taken it a few times and will do so again in 2014
