catterbury
Hey everyone, I am wondering if work and volunteer hours from high school should be included? Obviously, schools don't care about high school transcripts, but, can the same be said about work/volunteer experience? I think that recency is huge, but I am hesitant to disregard 300 hours of community service from 8 years ago... Thanks!
greenmood
You really need to go with your gut. I would include them as long as they aren't hanging out by themselves, looking sad and pathetic. 300 hours from eight years ago isn't going to blow any adcom away unless it's supported by recent evidence of commitment. Admissions people know lots of high schools make students volunteer to graduate; the only way to prove you weren't doing it just to get the diploma is to show you didn't drop it as soon as you skipped town for college. catterbury
Thanks for the advice. I accumulated over 500 hours in college to supplement my high school hours. I figured it would serve as evidence of my continued commitment over time.
