I'd have to agree with MCHAD and kargiver who said it may improperly imply to the patient that they are only getting 'mid-level care', rather than the 'high level care' a physician can provide. If we are more than a nurses, but less than doctors then are nurses merely providing low level care? I'd think most people would say no, considering nurses provide services that clinicians don't. Everyone is part of the team, even the janitor, and we all work together to provide HIGH level care for patients. If I'm unable to provide high level care I'm going to consult with a physician/specialist, a social worker, a dietitian etc... and if a physician is unable to provide high level care his patients should expect him to do the same. Obsessions with hierarchy, and rankings are a military standard that should be discarded - everyone has a role, and everyone should know the limits of that role. Egos get people in trouble.
