blexxer
I want to work in Oncology when I graduate. I was wondering if PA's in this specialty are required to be on call or if they can opt out of it.

mgriffiths
Basically every specialty it depends on the job (maybe the exception is derm or cosmetic plastic surgery). I know many ortho PAs who are never on call, and it's just because the docs always take it, and then others who are on call every week.
Planteater
Most oncology PA jobs that I've seen don't require call. This is my experience from the two I've worked in, the two I rotated in, and the five others I've interviewed at. None required call from the PAs. YMMV and it might be regional (I'm in the southeast).
