Job Opportunities Post-Grad

Recommended Posts

I will be starting PA school in May and was wondering if any new post-grads could give me insight on the availability of jobs after graduation? Has it been easy, hard, have your clinical affiliations helped? If so, can you provide any clinical areas that are looking to hire that I could add to my clinical rotations list? Any information would be helpful!

I don't know about the job outlook in Ohio specifically, but clinical rotations at Cleveland Clinic can be beneficial.

Spots fill up fast, and preferences are given to local PA students. But, if you apply in advance and speak with your clinical coordinator from Day 1, he/she can start necessary paperwork and increase your chances of being selected.

Rotating there opened up so many doors for me job interview wise, including CC.

Good luck with school!

Do you have any recommendations for preceptors at CC?? Thanks for the response!

@Bella00, from what I recall you cannot choose your receptors; you get placed wherever there is an availability. The facility is so large, they can place you either on main campus or at surrounding hospitals.

They have elective specialties (if your program allows you) that you can pursue like neurosurgery, plastics, cardiothoracic, vascular, etc. The most common rotations to get there are Psych/ER/General Surgery.

I don't know if students have to do this, but when I applied, I had to write a personal statement, then got selected to do a few rotations. Apply early, that's the key (a year in advance, with the help of your PA program's clinical coordinator). Even if you don't end up at the CC upon graduating, it's a great experience and exposes you to cases you would never encounter in smaller hospitals/clinics.
