Suezee
Is a DEA number needed when working in derm? The office I plan to work at has not mentioned it but I want to make sure. Thanks.
Administrator rev ronin Posted September 21, 2011 Administrator Share Posted September 21, 2011 Get them to include it in the contract, so you don't have to pay taxes on it. That way, you can moonlight with it, or take another job that needs it. Even if you have to negotiate a 1-for-1 salary reduction to get them to cover it, that puts you ahead if you were going to pay it anyways. Always take as much compensation as legal and ethical in ways where Uncle Sam doesn't get his hooks into it. :-)
aprillh
I've been in derm for 10 years and have never needed a DEA#. There have been maybe a handful of times where it would have been useful but I was able to work around it. You may as your future SPs if they feel there is a need for it. Suezee
Thank you for the information Aprillh, I'm going to hold off on the DEA unless specifically asked to get one.
