Get them to include it in the contract, so you don't have to pay taxes on it. That way, you can moonlight with it, or take another job that needs it. Even if you have to negotiate a 1-for-1 salary reduction to get them to cover it, that puts you ahead if you were going to pay it anyways. Always take as much compensation as legal and ethical in ways where Uncle Sam doesn't get his hooks into it. :-)
